Disclaimer and Terms Do Different Jobs

A product guide can explain its research carefully and still have limits: features change, individual needs differ, and a retailer controls its own listing. That is one reason a disclaimer and terms of service should not be treated as duplicate footer links. Each page has a different purpose, and its actual wording matters.

What a disclaimer explains

A disclaimer commonly sets context around the information a publication provides, including the scope or limitations of its content. In a product-focused publication, it may help clarify that editorial guidance is not the same as a guarantee about a product or a retailer’s current offer. Read the page itself; the label alone does not tell you what it covers.

What terms are for

Terms of service generally describe conditions for using a website, such as rules or responsibilities that apply to visitors and the publication. The details differ from site to site, so do not assume a familiar heading means familiar terms. If a particular condition affects your decision to use the site, review the relevant section rather than relying on a summary.

Read the pages that apply

Neither page replaces a product comparison, an affiliate disclosure, or the privacy information for a retailer you visit. They serve different reader questions: what are the limits of this content, and what conditions apply to using this site? Open the page that answers your question, and seek qualified advice when you need an interpretation for your own situation.
